There's nothing you could say ; Nothing you can do

Name: Susan Marie Bones
Nicknames: Sue, Susie, Suze and Ducky
Birthday: February 20, 1980
Age: 27
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Bloodline: Half-Blood
Spirituality/Religion: Christian one year; Jewish the next.

Hometown: Cornwall, England
Occupation: St. Mungo's Intern → Children's Ward
Left/Right/Ambi: Right
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Wand: 8 1/2" Almond with Dragon heartstring (from a Romanian Longhorn) core
Accent: Take a listen

Personality: Susan can be described as kind, sweet, gentle, fragile and clumsy. As a sickly child, Susan was always that girl in the back of the class falling off her chair or the one who was always fainting all the time. She also seemed to be the unluckiest girl in the world. Whenever something happened to someone, you could almost bet that something (whatever it was) happened to Susan. All sorts of insects and non-insects alike have bitten her, and every sort of accident imaginable happens in the midst of Susan Bones.

However, even though all of these things have happened to her, Susan is usually quite optimistic about life. She believes that things will get better no matter how bad they are. Though she is physically weak and fragile, by no means is she weak of heart. She is a very caring and compassionate person, who can actually feel pain when others feel pain. She will do anything in her power to help someone in need, even if it means sacrificing her time, strength, energy or even herself. She is not the most sociable person, but she was raised to treat everyone with the respect they deserve.

She is also quite kind, especially to adults and Professors. Usually, these are the people with whom Susan has had to deal with on a daily basis due to her frequent illnesses. She has learned that most adults can be nice people, and she can some times forget she's talking to an adult. She can get so lost in the conversation that she won't even notice who she's talking to. This usually allows her to get along with adults and have a very adaptable and gentle personality when dealing with others.

Even though she is generally optimistic, she can still be concerned about the well-being of others when she's not around. She mostly worries about her parents, grandparents and sister when she is away from them. She can also worry about her friends, if she knows they are going through a difficult situation. She was quite worried about Cedric during the Triwizard Tournament and would also get an odd feeling when she was around him. Only after his murder did Susan actually tell her father about her strange feeling. Alan was rather curious about Susan's feeling but didn't otherwise pay attention to it.

Susan can be quite gullible some times, depending on the issue. She is not the most intelligent person nor does she worry about school. As a Hufflepuff, she is determined and hard-working, though her hard work doesn't always translate into her school work. She tends to trust people easily, because she is usually too physically weak to do most heavy-lifting on her own. So, she does expect that people will help her and be nice about it. This goes hand-in-hand with her idealism. She also cannot deny anyone of anything, whether it be help with school or in someone's personal life.

Although Susan is willing to take the initiative on certain issues, she is predominantly a follower. She is quick to follow orders and will not really think twice about the consequences or the implications of a matter. She will not do something which she deems to be morally wrong, such as kill someone. However, she can be easily persuaded if one knew the right ways to get her to do something. Susan is not an active thinker and would prefer ideas to come to her instead of her going out to find ideas.

History: As a child, Alan Bones was possibly the most rambunctious child in the Bones household. The youngest of three children, Alan was overprotected by his sister, Amelia, the oldest, and apprentice to his older brother, Edgar. Even though Edgar was not as mischievous as Alan, it seemed that they were the best duo the Bones had ever seen. Edgar was the brains behind the operation. Alan was the guts. Edgar would draw battle plans and lay them out for Alan to look over, and soon, Alan had picked out his victim, ready for the attack. Before anyone knew it, the Bones brothers had tricked yet another unsuspected member of the Bones family, and the rest was history.

Amelia was the first of the Bones to attend Hogwarts. She was sorted into Ravenclaw, and the family was quite pleased. Next was Edgar, who was sorting into Hufflepuff. Finally, Alan, the youngest, was sorted into Gryffindor. With a raven, a badger and a lion in the family, the Bones were good to go on their quest for knowledge, friendship and courage, only to find out that all those things could be found within themselves and some times when they least expected it.

Beatrice Doyle was a young blonde from Cornwall. Being an only child was not only difficult, as she would always have to take the blame for everything she did, but it was also quite boring. As a Muggle, Beatrice did not attend Hogwarts. In fact, she didn't even have the slightest clue that it existed. She attended a primary school in Cornwall and eventually made it to Cambridge, where she roomed with a Junior transfer student from Spain named Anna Maria Vargas. Anna's English upon transferring to Cambridge was not the best. However, with Beatrice's help, Anna was able to speak English fluently before her graduation two years later.

Anna and Beatrice had become best friends, and Anna even took Beatrice with her on her trip to London. It was a celebratory trip after Anna's graduation, and they both had a great time sight-seeing and eating at all the different restaurants. On the last night of their trip, Anna dragged Beatrice to one of the night clubs. Beatrice wasn't a fan of loud music and dancing, but she allowed herself to be dragged. Fate would find her that night in the form of Alan Bones, who, as it turns out, was dared to go into a Muggle bar by none other than his brother and partner-in-crime, Edgar. Although Alan did not have any intention of going into the Muggle club, he would never turn down a dare.

As Beatrice was trying to travel through the mob of people to reach Anna, she accidentally bumped into Alan. It was somewhat shocking, as both of them seemed to receive sparks when they touched. Beatrice and Alan were both momentarily puzzled with one another before they were pulled away from each other. For the rest of the night, Beatrice could not dance or do much of anything else except think about Alan. At the other end of the club, Alan, who was usually quite active, was having the same problem. Thoughts of the mysterious blonde flashed through his mind, and he knew he had to find her one way or another.

At midnight, Beatrice walked out to call her parents to let them know that she was all right. As she was talking on the telly in the booth, Alan came out and spotted her. He quickly ran over to her and pressed his face against the glass. Beatrice nearly shrieked when she saw him but was quick to giggle and hung up with her parents. When she slipped out from inside the booth, Alan said to her, "I know this might sound odd, but I haven't been able to get you out of my mind all night long." Beatrice blushed and replied, "You know, this might sound odd, but I haven't been able to get you out of my mind either."

After this encounter, Anna told Beatrice that it had all been a bit of a setup on her part. She had been dating Edgar for some time now, and they both thought it would be interesting to set the pair of them up. Well, it had all worked out better than either of them could have imagined, and Alan and Beatrice began dating, though part of it was long distance dating as the two of them were still in school. Anna and Edgar married that summer and surprised everyone by having a set of triplets!

Even though Beatrice had always been a rather shy girl, she was always so honest with Alan. After that fateful night in the club, Alan and Beatrice kept in constant communication, mostly through owls. Beatrice was always amazed that owls were so trustworthy with letters. One day, Alan asked Beatrice to meet him while he was on break from school. It was then that he told her about his being a wizard. Beatrice was quite shocked and really didn't know what to say. Alan then conjured up a bouquet of roses, and though it wasn't enough to get Beatrice to speak, it was enough to make her smile.

After Alan's graduation from Hogwarts, which Beatrice attended, Alan asked Beatrice to marry him. Another wave of shock swept through her body, as she certainly was not expecting a marriage proposal from Alan. However, she did accept it. She found that she too was in love with him, and since her school had ended as well, they could both marry and start the family they both always wanted.

A month after Alan and Beatrice's wedding, travesty gripped the Bones family in the form of the vicious murder of Alan's parents and later, Alan's brother, Edgar, and his family's murder. Alan's anger turned into determination. He wanted to avenge the murder of his family members and promptly joined the Order of the Phoenix. He also signed himself up for Auror training, as he was bent on capturing the evil wizard who killed more than half of his family. Luckily, Alan was able to catch him, though not before he was severely injured from a nasty hex. Alan spent many months at St. Mungo's (one of which he spent in a coma) with frequent visits from Beatrice and Alan’s only remaining relative, his sister Amelia.

Slowly but surely, Alan recovered and was able to return home to his wife. After about a year later, Beatrice received news that she was pregnant, and Alan had passed part of his exams in Auror training. Things seemed to be looking up for the Bones family, until Beatrice began having problems with her pregnancy. For the latter part of it, Beatrice was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. It was not an easy time for the couple, as Alan was starting to have difficulty with the last bit of Auror training. After eight agonizing months, Beatrice went into labor early and gave birth to baby girl. They named her Susan after her aunt, Amelia Susan Bones.

Right from the start, Susan had problems breathing. She spent about a month in the hospital after she was born, because she had every problem a newborn baby could possibly have. Alan and Beatrice realized that Susan would be an expensive baby, as she already needed a special baby formula. Susan was lactose intolerant. After that, Susan would get every possible illness known to mankind. She was so skinny that the Healers at St. Mungo's developed a special potion for her to take to make her gain weight. It turns out that she was allergic to it, thus beginning a strain of allergic reactions that would plague her for the rest of her life.

Susan also had weak bones. She could hardly walk after she had turned one. The problem developed because she could not drink milk, and milk was what her bones needed. Alan and Beatrice had to struggle to care for their daughter, and even though they were able to stabilize her with a diet that she and her weak stomach could support, they were still going crazy with all the medications she needed to take in a day. Things eventually began to settle down a bit as Susan grew, and Alan was finally able to become an Auror.

When Susan was three years old, her sister, Clarissa, was born. Having not given Beatrice as harsh a pregnancy as Susan had, Clarissa turned out to be the exact opposite of Susan. Clarissa was a very healthy baby, strong, muscular and fat. She weighed more at one than Susan weighed at four. Even though there was a clear distinction between the girls, they both always got along, and Clarissa tried to not hurt Susan whenever she would hug her. Susan's weak bones couldn't take it sometimes.

As the years went on, Alan started to severely doubt that Susan would be a witch. She always looked so weak and fragile. He never doubted that she had an enormously caring heart. Even after everything she had been through, Susan was always positive about everything. She tried to always smile and was so thankful to her parents and to everyone who had helped her in the past. Much to her parents' surprise, Susan did receive a Hogwarts letter and was quickly sorted into Hufflepuff.

Though at first, Susan had a difficult time adjusting to the new environment, she did love the scenery as well as the people whom she met there. Aside from the usual allergy attacks and random illnesses, Susan's first year was rather quiet. It was clear early on that she was not an overly studious person, though she did try her best in class. Second year was slightly busier for Susan, as she was quite worried about her friend, Justin, who had been petrified. Being a kind and loyal friend, Susan, who knew the Hospital Wing better than the back of her hand by now, would often pay him visits, even though she knew he couldn't hear her or even know she had been there.

Third year was another fairly quiet year for Susan, who was actually doing rather well in her studies. Having her friend, Justin, back in Hufflepuff was a relief, as he was safe and sound. They all made a pact that they would try to protect each other in case anything or anyone else tried to hurt them. They all knew by now that Susan was the weakest of all of them all, physically, so her friends made it a point to stay with her as much as possible. It didn't bother Susan to have her friends always with her. In fact, it made her happy.

Fourth year was a particularly trying time for Susan, who mourned the death of fellow Hufflepuff, Cedric Diggory. She did not know him personally, but she did know that he was a smart, honest boy. His death hit all of Hufflepuff hard, but again, they all strived to rise above the pain and work together in order to keep each other safe. This was also the year in which her sister, Clarissa, had started attending Hogwarts and was sorted into Hufflepuff as well. Though Susan knew her sister was more than capable of taking care of herself, she still looked out for her whenever she could.

During her fifth year, Susan joined Dumbledore's Army with a few of her friends. This was also the year she received word that the Death Eater who had killed more than half of her family had escaped from Azkaban where her father had put him nearly 20 years ago. After the escape, Susan told Harry that she now knew what he'd had to go through.

That year, on her trip back on the Hogwarts Express, she helped Harry in the ambush with Draco Malfoy. Thanks to DA meetings, Susan was getting better and better at Defensive magic, and it was all because of Harry Potter. The summer previous, her aunt, Amelia Bones, had presided at Harry Potter's trial. She had told Susan a bit about the trial, though she didn't explain all of it. Susan always thought her aunt was a fair and kind woman, who never married in order to delve well into the Ministry to become the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and preside over the Wizengamot.

Only a few weeks after Susan returned home from school, Amelia Bones was nastily murdered by Death Eaters. Many, including Cornelius Fudge, suggest that the murder was carried out by Voldemort himself. Susan and her family were distraught. Alan's last remaining relative in the Bones family was taken away from him. He especially could not be consoled. Susan was determined to return to Hogwarts, and Clarissa completely agreed. Much to their parents' dismay, the sisters traveled back to Scotland on the Hogwarts Express. That year was probably the worst year for Susan, due to her aunt's and Dumbledore's death. She had always looked up to the man and cried for a whole hour after she heard the news of his murder and Snape's evident betrayal. She boarded the train that summer with a sad but steady heart. She would return next year even if it killed her too.

Luckily, it didn't, though not for lack of trying really. On this, her final year at Hogwarts, Susan was faced with an onslaught of NEWT level courses as well as the Death Eater control of Hogwarts. She kept an especially close eye on her sister, for fear that she would get hurt, and while she was quite frightened of everything that was going on in the school, she did her best to keep her head held high. During the Battle of Hogwarts, Susan made sure he sister was safely outside school grounds before going back to help her fellow DA members in the fight. She was quite lucky, as several hexes missed her by mere inches, and though she didn't really get to hurt anyone, she did keep some Death Eaters at bay with her protective spells. She was also able to help those who came by The Great Hall who had been injured during the battle.

Afterward, Susan went off and became an intern for St. Mungo's. She had always dreamed of helping people, much like the Healers had always helped her throughout the years with her illnesses and injuries. She especially asked to be placed in the Children's Ward, as that was where she spent most of her youth. Unlike most people, Susan isn't afraid of hospitals. She thinks they're rather nice, because everyone there is working hard to help someone else to feel better. She considers it a great environment to work in and hopes to eventually secured a full time position there in the Children's Ward.
